This is something that always instigates me, how web designers should present their portfolio on the website. Should they use the same principals and trends from the graphic design portfolio to present their web work?
I've selected some very well known web designers, to check closely how they present their work within their website and give you a good idea of how you could present yours.
Jason Santa Maria
Jason displays his work in small thumbs that leads to the full view of the job within the same structure; every work also contains info details and the link to view the project.
Jonathan displays his work in very small thumbs with a little bit of info about the work his done and as you click it will lead you straight to the website his done.
Dan also displays his works in small thumbs with a little info about the work done and as you click it will lead you to an inside page that has a small rotational previews of the work and a lot of explanation about the work done.
Douglas has a very well organized portfolio full of little thumbs that after clicked leads to a page with full views of the web designs with a lot of explanation and also the option of going to other projects by simply clicking on the thumbs displayed on the left side.
Elliot displays a huge portfolio presented by little thumbs that when clicked brings you to a stylish inside page full of previews and information about the work.
Mike takes you straight to the point, as you enter his portfolio page you will notice that his latest work will show in very big size with different previews and on the left side are the options of viewing other projects.
Matthew displays his works on a different way, without thumbs or links he created a rotational system that jumps from project to project without affecting the structure of the site, as you switch projects you notice that the info bellow also changes
Cameron displays all his works on the same page using thumbs along with the info about the work and the option of visiting the website created.
Andy’s portfolio page is a piece of art, showing a lot of attention to each job and creating and specific design just to display the work.
Sam presents his works with a reasonable size thumb and some info about the work done and the choice of visit the website created, as you click on the thumb it will bring you to an inside page with big previews along with a good info about each work and the choice to easily move to another piece of the portfolio.
